Neonatal encephalopathy is fatal disease in newborn puppies of Standard Poodles.
The affected puppies are small and weak at birth, and often die in the first week of life. Those that survive the first week of life develop ataxias, tremor of the whole body and in the 4th – 6th week of life severe generalized clonic-tonic seizures. None of the affected pups survived to the 7th week of life so far.
