A research team led by Dr Kathryn Meurs described the genetic variant associated with Inherited Ventricular Arrhythmia in Rhodesian Ridgebacks (RR IVA).
However, based on the results of genetic testing of more than one hundred RR dogs, it was found that the variant is too common in RR and does not explain ventricular arrhythmia in an Rhodesian Ridgeback population. Therefore, genetic testing does not seem to be useful or beneficial.

Rhodesian Ridgeback
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a dog breed whose hallmark is the stripe of backward growing hair on its back. The breed became famous in its native Africa for its ability to track and hunt lions. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a fast and powerful athlete, weighing between 30 and 40 kilograms. The sturdy Ridgeback can be willful, independent and sometimes domineering. They are loyal friends, protective of their loved ones and overflowing with love for those they trust.
