Ridge faults and Dermoid sinus statistics in RR

Dear Ridgeback breeders,

from 2015 we are offering ridge gene (ridge disposition) genetic test for Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We also study closer genetics of ridge formation.

Based on the results of ridge gene test, we could make some statistics for ridge faults and Dermoid sinus. There is a trend that both, Dermoid sinus and Multi-crowns are linked to dogs with the two ridge genes (Dominant homozygotes).

Ridgeless dogs usually do not have ridge gene at all (Recessive homozygotes). But, approx. 5% of ridgeless dogs have one silenced ridge gene (Heterozygotes).
